Thinking Spring

It's a beautiful snowy day. Um... a lot of snow! I hope everyone is safe, cozy and warm. I wanted to share a little bit of SPRING inspiration with you. I know it's kind of hard to do that when there are mountains of snow outside, but there's nothing stopping you from feeling SPRINGY on the inside!

This month the design team for PhotoScraps is sharing projects using a super fun line from WR Memory Keepers. Hippity Hoppity is sure to get you in the SPRING mood.

I decided to create a super duper oversized flower pot card using nothing but the patterned papers and some stamps. I sewed this little baby together to make it fun and sturdy. I used two brand new stamps here: Silhouette Ivy and Big and Small Flowers from Hero Arts, and Giggle from Treasure to Me, designed by yours truly for Unity Stamp Co. Also, it wouldn't be a finished product for me without a little bit of Copic coloring. The Big and Small Flowers are perfect for coloring.

The Hippity Hoppity line is fun, bright and BLINGY! Lots of glittery papers. Stop in the store and get some. Lots and loads of great embellishments, to go with, too.

It all started with an IDEA!

I had an epiphany!

About a month ago, I was struggling with a portable storage option for my Copic markers. Hauling 240ish or so of them around to teach was becoming a hassle. I was frustrated with trying to retrofit something to work for me, so... I decided to make it. HA!

Sure. OK, I thought... I'll just sew something up. NO plan. NO pattern. Just do it. I can sew a straight line, so I figured I'd learn on the fly. I scrawled out an idea on the back of an envelope and dove in head first after a quick trip to JoAnn fabrics and a little brainstorming with the lady behind the counter.
And so this was born.  Did I mention I stayed up that Friday night till 3ish in the morning? When I get an idea, I have to see it through before I even attempt to sleep. (Ask the hubs, he can bear witness to some of my crazier stay up all night ideas - like repainting the whole house - HA!) CRAZY Chica, I am!

The next day, I was so confident I had mastered sewing a straight line (tee hee), I sewed up some doll bedding and pillows for my girly twirly's American Girl doll. I digress!

Please note: I am not a professional seamstress. Not EVEN close. My sewing is not precise and is flawed. In fact I sewed the zipper in backwards, but it works. The directions provided is how I created it with my limited sewing knowledge. The drawings are not to scale and I may have not used the correct sewing terminology. I created this project for FUN to suit a storage need for my Copic Markers®. The tote size could easily be modified to create a larger or smaller size. Have fun with it!

This little happy project uses a new UNITY STAMP set called BUILD A TURKEY, designed by my fabby Unity Artist friend, Lindsay Spencer.

This super cool box was created with the new line of My Mind's Eye and my new release created in collaboration with my fabby Unity artist friend, Lindsay Spencer. Don't you just LOVEY those pumpkins. This set is BIG, HUGE. Perfect for card makers and scrappers, too. The new UNITY stamp set is called SIMPLE BLESSINGS. It's fun, fresh and a MUST HAVE for the fall season. It has three HUGE pumpkins, three HUGE leafs, three HUGE sentiments and a super cool swash of leaves blowing in the wind. It's my new favorite.

Last up... A mini album/CD holder just in time for Halloween. I created this little beauty using all the new My Minds Eye paper and embellies. A cool NEW Fiskars OWL punch and I got another one of my new UNITY releases in here. HAUNTINGLY SWEET. At halloween.... it's all about the CANDYCORN. This set comes with three sentiments and the super cool Hauntingly Sweet tree. Check it out HERE.
